TASK Two: 1 Wallpaper (at least 1024x768); Theme - Family

TASK Three: 2 Tweets; Theme - Betrayal

Show: Les Mis
Character: Enjolras

wisdomintellect just found out that Alain defected, but not before betraying us all. It was a small mercy that he didn't do anything worse than he did.
wisdomintellect it makes me think - how many more will betray us before all this is over? I sincerely hope it is not to the destruction of the cause!

TASK Four: 1 Drabble; Theme - Kiss

Show: Titanic the Musical

She’d joked about it when she’d boarded the ship, about Farrell being the man that she’d marry. Now, it was actually happening!

As she kissed him boldly, she knew she’d made the right decision to board the Titanic, sailing to America and her new future.

They released from the kiss (a longer one than she’d intended) leaving Farrell gasping for air. “Don’t you come up for air, Kate?”

“I just did, boy-o!” She grinned as he took her in his arms, and they both looked out to the horizon stretching in front of them.

TASK Five: 1 Hand Drawn; Theme - Reunited

Title: Galinda and Elphie: Schoolgirl Friends Reunited (At Least, For a Moment)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
(The brown box in the middle is the Grimmerie.)

TASK Six: 1 Letter; Theme - Years

Show: Wicked

Glinda –

I never dreamed I’d be writing to you, and now that I am, you will never see this, because you think I’m dead because I can’t risk the communication. With things the way they are right now, I can’t be seen or heard from. You know how it is.

Fiyero is well, despite what was done to him. What I did to him. Keeping him away from fires on these cold nights is a challenge, though…

I would ask how things are with you, but since you won’t ever read this letter, I won’t. I hope you are well, though, and that the crown of Oz isn’t getting too heavy to bear.

I do miss you, and wish –

No. I know better than to wish. All my years of schooling, and I still submit to such foolishness. Time seems to pass more slowly now that it did at Shiz. I wonder how much you’ve changed since we last spoke?

I would ask you how things are with you, but since you won’t ever read this letter, I won’t. I hope you are well, though, and that the crown of Oz isn’t getting too heavy to bear.

This is silly. I shall stop writing now. Goodbye.

From Wash's Hawaiian floral shirts to Kaylee's famous layer-cake ballgown, to Jayne's tri-colored hat, the costumes of Firefly and Serenity the BDM are simply perfect. Each outfit that each character wears visually illustrates their personality. Wash's Hawaiian shirts show his playfulness and childlike kindness, while Inara's dresses show not only her standing as a Companion, but her elegance in doing so. And who could forget the hat that Ma Cobb knitted for Jayne? Though Jayne may be tough, the hat shows his inner kindness and love for his family.

Besides, each of the costumes are so pretty to look at (in their own way), that I can't help but oggle them as I watch each episode and the BDM :D

How amazing is Kaylee? She's a super skilled mechanic, perfectly amenable to getting greasy and dirty if it means that Serenity keeps flying. In amidst the grime and machinery of Serenity's hub, she doesn't forget her girliness, though: she makes her work clothes more feminine by adding cute patches of teddy bears, flowers, and hearts to her jumpsuits, and finds brightly colored shirts and simple, yet elegant jewelry to finish off her ensembles. She gets almost giddy with happiness at a view of a fancy dress in a store window, and is even more thrilled when the Captain gets it for her to wear to a fancy ball! Her sunny disposition brightens up the darkness of the black of space, and she loves her assembled family of the crew of Serenity so much. She's my favorite character of the series, and one of the main reasons I love Firefly so deeply.

For a show that only lasted for 14 episodes as well as a two hour movie, there is so much universe packed in, that it makes me want to continue to revisit that 'verse, whether in listening to audio dramas, reading fanfic, or watching the series over again. From the history of the Alliance and the war, including the Battle of Serenity that feels so vivid for me even though I never participated in it, to the Companion lifestyle, the Chinese influences, and the Wild West feel to the show, the 'Verse is rich with detail. I love this series for it :)

Like Joss Whedon's other works, Firefly is not without a dearth of kickass females and big damn heroes. While the females in this show are no doubt big damn heroes as well, I couldn't resist the catchphrase nature of this reason :D

Simon loves his sister so much he risks everything to get River out of the Alliance's grip. Zoe gets her husband of Niska's clutches, but then goes back for her Captain with guns blazing (and the rest of the crew coming with her.) When River gets accused of being a witch, Simon decides after trying unsuccessfully to reason with the townsfolk, that he would rather die with her than the alternative - standing by and watching it happen. And then, as if that wasn't awesome enough, Jayne, Zoe and Mal come to the rescue and Mal declares that River may be a witch, "but she's OUR witch."

There's YoSaffBridge, who, if I'm not mistaken, is pictured in the dictionary under "badass" for her skills in manipulating people and getting what she wants. Granted, she's not the most moral of the bunch, but, she's still badass.

And, of course, how could I forget River protecting the entirety of the crew from the Reavers in the final assault during the BDM? Sure, it's mainly because Simon gets injured, and she wants to protect him, but I think that's just the catalyst for her decision to help fight.

The crew of Serenity are truly Big Damn Heroes, and badass while they do their heroic deeds. That is all.

Serenity, the Firefly class mid-bulk transport ship, is LOVE. Every time I watch the show or even just look at pictures, I am reminded of my fangirly desire to be able to live on Serenity, even if only for a little while. It is such a cozy, lived in, home of a place that I can't help but love it just as much as the crew of Serenity does. Love is the first rule of flying, and even though we don't hear Mal utter that quote until the end of the BDM, we know it to be true in every episode of the series as well as the movie.

Without Firefly and its major motion picture Serenity, I never would have found the Jossverse. I wouldn't have discovered how Echo, Sierra, and Victor are "a little bit bison," wouldn't have known the power of Xander's love to stop the world from ending, and wouldn't have known the joys of Angel with "puppet cancer."

Firefly introduced me to the big fandom of the Whedonverse. It brought me into the world of creating podcasts, such as Buffy Between the Lines and Angel Between the Lines (which I am an Assistant Producer for as well as part of the cast). Through these projects, as well as LJ communities like whedonland , as well as other message boards, I've gotten to know people who've become good friends of mine, friends that I'm blessed to have.

In tough times, I am able to think upon the lyrics of the Firefly theme song, or think "What Would Buffy do?", and these give me the extra boost of courage I sometimes need to get through a tough time or nerve-wracking situation.

This is why I love Firefly, and am so thankful to be a Browncoat. You can't take the sky from me!
